7 Essential Things You Need During the Pandemic

With the world turned upside down because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been shortages, confusion, and stress-related problems. However, there are certain items you may need during these challenging times, like a mask, hand sanitizer, and vaccination card holder. Read on to find the complete list below.

Mask

While wearing a mask outdoors on conveyances or at transportation hubs is no longer mandatory, the CDC recommends that those who are not fully vaccinated use a mask in these situations to protect themselves and others.

When choosing a mask, make sure it has two or more layers of breathable fabric, that it completely covers your nose and mouth, fits snugly and doesn’t have any gaps, and contains a nose wire to help prevent air from escaping inside.

Hand Sanitizer/Soap

Keep your hands sanitized at all times with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, and try to wash your hands often. Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially after being in a public area or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. It’s even more important to wash your hands in these situations:

  • Before eating or preparing food
  • Before touching your face
  • After using the restroom
  • After handling your mask
  • After changing a diaper
  • After caring for someone sick
  • After touching animals or pets

Vaccination Card Holder

While people in the US may get around places without wearing a mask anymore, proof of vaccination may still be required in some situations (Like travel, for example). That’s where a vaccination card holder comes in handy. These lightweight, sturdy, clear huge oversize badge holders are ideal for holding your CDC-issued vaccination card, special event badge, VIP ticket, ID name tag, convention pass, venue credential, and more.

Groceries

It may be a good idea to stock food so that you can shop less often than you usually do. Some suggestions? Popcorn, dried beans, pasta, and rice, are all excellent choices. Consider canned food as well. Don’t forget to buy plenty of fresh fruit and veggies as well. Nut and oat milk may be great picks as they have a long shelf life.

First Aid Kit

First aid kits are something everyone needs. Remember to make sure that your first aid kit contains a thermometer, as not every kit will. Some of the items a first aid kit should include are as follows:

 Medications

  • acetaminophen
  • aloe
  • antibiotic ointment
  • calamine lotion
  • hydrocortisone cream (1%)
  • ibuprofen
  • sunscreen

 Other Things

  • emergency blanket
  • flashlight and extra batteries
  • insect repellent
  • matches and candles
  • paper and pencil
  • safety pins
  • sharp scissors
  • splinting material
  • thermometer
  • tweezers
  • bottle of drinking water
  • basic pocket guide or first aid manual

Disinfecting Wipes And Spray

In case someone in your home is sick, disinfecting wipes and sprays can be a heaven-sent option. The CDC recommends disinfecting and wiping surfaces as much as possible in this situation.

Trash Bags

Most disposable objects that could have come into touch with the coronavirus, such as tissues, disposable gloves, disposable masks, and so on, should be discarded. Furthermore, the CDC suggests keeping a special lined trash bag for anyone who has been infected with coronavirus and wearing gloves to remove those bags.
